Presenting/Anchoring is about feeling, not about doing they say but then if  ‘feeling’ is such a major aspect of the anchor’s communication then why place such focus on speaking, stage presence & gestures? Is it because positioning yourself as someone who can evoke a feel in the audience won’t be considered as hard work as compared to actually be seen doing stuff on the stage to keep it alive so it gives a boost to one’s image as a Presenter?

When we talk about choosing our hearts over our head, we’re effectively believing in ‘Uncertainty’ and ‘Magic’ over limited resources available for the event . It could be tricky though. After all, this is where Presenters give themselves a false sense of security by telling themselves they’re just going to ‘Speak from the Heart’ instead of banking on meticulous preparation and understanding the subtle aspects of the craft.

Presenting from the Heart-Brain is a skill that like everything else takes time to fully evolve and once a Presenter begins to operate confidently in this space, they will never go back to the way it was prior, for each time they want do it, their Heart will hold them back.

Speaking from the Heart is often mistaken as sharing openly or even making yourself ‘Vulnerable’ based on what you chose to talk about. Our brain is ‘Technical’ and our heart is the ‘’Creative” part of our Presenting/Anchoring. The mind is the sum of our gathered knowledge. Whatever we’ve learnt – vocabulary, facts, information, gestures, mannerisms and ideas we’ve discovered which we pass onto others. Think of Technical, for example, as often the – where do I stand? what do I do with my hands? how do I tell a story which connects? And finally what’s the process with which to best engage the audience? It’s worth noting down that most Presenters will believe that doing the Technical right at an exceptional level is Mastery. But when we move into the Heart-Brain sync, we get have a much clear framework to operate in so as to allow our “Feeling” Brain to influence the words we choose 🙂

How do you like to present? With your heart? With your mind? Or with both?
